As you will know, the May Bank Holiday was moved to Friday 8th May, to coincide with the 75th anniversary of VE Day. We have come across numerous posters and social media posts with ideas on how to mark the celebration and we want to ensure this is done safely by adhering to social distancing.

Traditionally, street parties would be held with households coming together to share food, play games and socialise. Unfortunately, during these times these events have to be cancelled, but you can still celebrate from the safety of your home and garden.

Things you could do:
– Decorate with bunting outside or inside your home
– Have a picnic in your garden
– 2 minute silence on your doorstep at 11am
– Play games with members of your household

It is important to stress that households should not be mingling in close proximity. Please ensure that you are keeping at least 2 metres apart from people that are not part of your household when out on daily exercise.
Picnics on village greens and open spaces are not permitted.
