
Cambourne Parish Facilities
The Parish Council is responsible for looking after the following facilities on behalf of the residents of Cambourne.
The Hub, Cambourne Community Centre:
The Community Centre was transferred to the Parish Council in June 2005. The Parish Council runs the building for the Community with priority being given Community bookings during the week and ensuring the Hub is kept largely free from regular bookings at weekends to allow the residents to book it for Birthday Parties, Christenings and Weddings. The Car Park and Gardens were transferred to the Parish Council January 2007

Allotments Crow Hill:
The Allotments were transferred to the Parish Council Easter 2005. The site is currently divided into 68 plots with a waiting list. The Cambourne Allotment Association manages the Allotment waiting list, the allocation of plots and keeps a check on those plots not being maintained. The Parish Council does all the administration related to the Allotments and maintains the general areas.

Allotments Brace Dean:
These allotments are under construction with the intension of it being transferred to the Parish Council Easter 2009. The Allotments are to be run in the same way as Crow Hill Allotments with those on the waiting list getting first option.

Scout/Guide Land:
This is a plot of Land to the South of the Allotments. The Parish Council is working with the Scouts and Guides to get a building on site for meetings. There is also a paddock attached for Camping etc. This is due to be transferred to the Parish Council July 2008 along with the access road to the Allotments.

Burial Ground:
This was transferred to the Parish Council January 2006. The Parish Council has carried out a series of Consultation meetings on the Burial Ground. We are now looking at the layout of the site ready for setting out and landscaping the site so it can be used.

Sports Pitches:
The first phase of pitches were transferred to the Parish Council and are currently subdivided into 2 mini pitches, 2 junior pitches, 1 colts pitch, 1 adults pitch and 1 rugby pitch these are used solely by Cambourne Clubs. These were transferred to the Parish Council ready for the September 2006 season. The second phase of pitches will be transferred ready for September 2008. These will be subdivided to provide for 2nd pitches for the colts, adult football and rugby pitches.

MUGA and Tennis Courts:
The Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) and Tennis Courts were transferred to the Parish Council January 2006. The MUGA is maintained and run by the Parish Council it is extensively used by Cambourne Clubs and residents during the week.

The tennis courts are maintained by the Parish Council, key access can be arranged 01954 714403 or e-mail bookings@cambourneparishcouncil.gov.uk or by contacting Cambourne Tennis Club (www.cambournetennisclub.co.uk) who run coaching, club and league tennis at the MUGA.
Bowling Green:
This is due to be transferred September 2008 this has been delayed by a fungal infection that affected the grass this has now been treated and with fresh surface dressing and over seeding it should be ready in early September.
Temporary changing rooms:
These were supplied ready for the September 2006 to allow the sports clubs to enter the relevant leagues when using the MUGA and pitches. They were funded by contributions from the Parish Council, McA the Cambourne Developers and South Cambridgeshire District Council. The changing rooms will be removed once the Sports Centre changing facilities open in 2009 along with the temporary toilets supplied by McA and maintained by the Parish Council since Sporting Cambourne passed the mantle to the Parish Council.
Skate Board Park:
The Skate Board Park has been maintained by the Parish Council since it was transferred January 2006 the area in common with all our play areas are inspected annually by Playground Management Ltd on behalf of RoSPA any recommendations are acted on to maintain as safe an environment for its users as possible.
Great Cambourne Green:
The Green was transferred to the Parish Council July 2006 and has been maintained by the Parish Council since July 2007. A new barrier is to be placed on the car park so it can be closed at night time to improve avoid late and overnight parking.
Great Cambourne Green Play Area;
The play area was transferred July 2006 and has been maintained by the Parish Council since then, it is an area greatly enjoyed by the children. The Parish Council would request that users refrain from taking dogs and bicycles into the play areas so the children can enjoy the play area in a safe environment.
Trailer Park:
This came to the Parish Council on the1st February 2008 it is maintained and operated by the Parish Council. The site is predominantly for Cambourne residents, but is also open to non residents while spaces are available. The Trailer Park charges are currently £250.00 for single axle and £300.00 for a twin axle for Cambourne residents. Non Residents charges are £300.00 and £350.00 for twin axle caravans from April to March part years are charged pro-rata. The park is available for the storage of Touring Caravans, Trailers, Boats Trailers and Motor Homes. The access to the site is between 8.00am and 6.00pm by a numbered key for which a refundable deposit of £20.00 is charged. Access is not available at other times.

Eco Park Kick-about Area:
This was originally maintained by the Wildlife Trust; in February 2008 it was transferred to the Parish Council as it was felt that the Parish Council would be better placed to maintain the Kick-about area. The intention is to get it back into a state where it can be used for informal football.
Teenage Hang Out:
This was transferred to the Parish Council in March 2006 and is maintained by the Parish Council.
Eco Park Play Area:
The Play Area has been maintained by the Parish Council since its transfer in February 2006. The Parish Council would request that users refrain from taking dogs and bicycles into the play areas so the children can enjoy the play area in a safe environment.
Lower Cambourne Cricket Pavilion:
The Pavilion was transferred May 2007 ready for the cricket season replacing temporary the facilities. The Parish Council fitted out the building for use by the Cricket Club and Community, the building can be booked via the Parish Council on 01954 714403 or e-mail bookings@cambourneparishcouncil.gov.uk.
Lower Cambourne Green and Cricket Pitch:
The Green and Cricket Pitch were transferred January 2006 with the Parish Council taking over the maintenance of the outfield in January 2007 the Cricket Club have been maintaining and preparing the Cricket Table (wickets) .
Lower Cambourne Play Area:
The Play Area is due to be transferred July 2008 and will then become the responsibility of the Parish Council to maintain. The Parish Council would request that users refrain from taking dogs and bicycles into the play areas so the children can enjoy the play area in a safe environment.
The Parish Council would request that people respect all the areas and help the Parish Council to keep the areas safe and clean for everyone to use, please take your litter home or use the bins provided. Dog owners please clean up after your dogs Peter and Warren have to spend a lot of time clearing the grass before it can be cut.

A New Blue Wheeled Bin: From October 2010, South Cambridgeshire District Council is changing the way it collects your recyclable waste by replacing the existing green box scheme with a blue wheeled bin, which comes with a specially designed inner caddy to keep paper separate from everything else.
